To have a plant qualify to receive Bureau services, any producer of sawn lumber products can notify the Bureau of its specific needs. The bureau will arrange to have an SPIB supervisor visit the facility to evaluate the mill production and drying facilities (if dry lumber is to be produced).
The SPIB evaluation will determine whether the operation has the equipment and/or personnel to qualify for grade-marking services. Service contracts will be issued and SPIB will begin to provide grade-marking following a positive evaluation by bureau staff.
